Customer Meeting 2025 roundup

Oct 17, 2025

Datapharm welcomed its customers at No.11 Cavendish Square, London on Wednesday, 15 October for its annual customer event which brought together professionals across the Pharma and Healthcare industry for a memorable day filled with industry leader updates, expert insights and networking.

Datapharm was delighted to welcome experts in Pharma Regulatory, Medical Information, Pharmacy and Compliance for its annual Customer Meeting. The day was themed around making medicines information trustworthy and accessible, pertinent in an age where misinformation is echoing across the globe.

A year on from the industry-changing update to Clause 12 of the ABPI Code, we heard a case study in how to roll out QR codes for sharing Prescribing Information (PI) effectively in a Top Pharma company. Richard Blackwell and Jenni Harrison (both Roche) shared their internal training journey and emphasised that you can't make enough noise when generating engagement that drives confident and compliant adoption of QR codes for PI.

Code Expert, Jayne Packham, cleared the air on proper placement and design of QR codes, and helped attendees consider the pitfalls of updating PI without high quality processes in place. The session also brought to the fore the importance of having a human in the loop, in combination with appropriate technology, rather than choosing between one or the other.

We also heard from the PMCPA's Chief Executive, Alex Fell, who spoke about the improvements the PMCPA is making to support the complaints process, and touched on the collaborative work being done to address AI generated answers and misinformation. He also highlighted some of their most recent resources with guidance, including how to structure roles within your Pharma organisation with respect to the Code.

Back by popular demand, Datapharm's Product team shared the latest findings from 2025's annual emc user survey. The presentation revealed HCPs' preferences for medicines information content and how this is shaping priorities for supporting new content on emc. For customers publishing information on emc, it was also important to see further proof about the impact of this medicines information resource - it was revealed that 72% of HCPs use emc to inform prescribing decisions.

The value of Medical Information to HCPs was brought to the fore in Pfizer and Datapharm's co presentation, with Aqid Iqbal shedding light on Pfizer's journey to adopting the SRD search service. His perspective showed that early stakeholder alignment and thoughtful planning are key to navigating legal, compliance, and operational hurdles effectively throughout the adoption process. He also spoke about how Pharma can raise awareness of this service to HCPs while maintaining Code compliance.

This year we were privileged to be joined by Leading Scientific Assessor from the MHRA, Shahin Kauser. She delivered a practical session on best practices for additional Risk Minimisation Measures (aRMMs), and emphasised the importance of user testing. It was also a unique chance for the audience to pitch their many questions to the UK regulator.

The day's overarching theme was particularly encapsulated in a panel discussion between leading Pharmacists from the NHS, British Oncology Pharmacy Association and Specialist Pharmacy Service, supported by moderator, Tracy Olla. The debate on whether it's Pharma or HCPs who instigate collaboration may be ongoing, but one message was clear - HCPs need easy access to a one-stop shop for medicines information, enabling them to pair accurate information with sound judgment.

Polly Shepperdson, Partnerships Manager at First Databank, highlighted the organisation's longstanding partnership with Datapharm in her session, 'Digital medicines in frontline care'. It was an important point in the day for Pharma to see how their medicines information is fed from publication to practice via the organisation whose software is present in over two thirds of GPs in the UK.

Finally, Datapharm's CEO, Rob Morgan, rounded off the day by raising two points:

Firstly, we have to balance regulation and compliance with accessibility, so that HCPs have what they need, at speed, to provide well informed answers in their prescribing decisions.

Secondly, Pharma and Healthcare professionals, as the experts, have to drive the narrative - or else those with the loudest voices, in positions of power, will.

The event also provided a great opportunity for customers to learn about Datapharm’s solutions and product development.

Attendees could learn about the SRD search service, making Med Info's answers to HCPs' questions accessible 24/7. There was also the chance to see demonstrations of how Pharma can automate their updating and distribution of PI and how MSLs can share the latest SmPC information with HCPs while out in the field.
