The dm+d is the NHS standard database of medicines and devices used across the NHS containing a full list of products and product packs used by healthcare professionals in the UK.

Data included in the dm+d database

Every medicine listed within the dm+d database contains a vast amount of information for each one recorded. Such as:

  • Product name and supplier
  • Price
  • Pack size
  • GTIN
  • Form
  • Strength
  • Route
  • SNOMED codes
  • Legal category
  • CD category

 

What are SNOMED codes?

SNOMED codes are codes assigned to products and products pack, on both virtual (VMP and VMPP) and actual level (AMP and AMPP), which are derived from the international SNOMED CT clinical vocabulary.

SNOMED CT is a structured clinical vocabulary which is used to enable information to be communicated electronically by healthcare professionals in a precise and comprehensive way.

How can you access the dm+d?

By using the new emc market access solution Pharma can easily search and compare product information contained in the dm+d database.
