Datapharm was formed in 1977 to publish medicines information on behalf of the pharmaceutical industry. In 1999 we launched emc (electronic medicines compendium) which has become the UK’s most comprehensive, trusted and accessible source of information about medicines. We use the best digital platforms to improve the accessibility and usefulness of medicines information to our rapidly growing audience of over 70 million visitors per year. Our customers and audiences trust us to deliver up-to-date, accurate and reliable medical information.
We partner with a wide range of professional and voluntary health organisations to improve health literacy and decision making about medicines for patients, carers, healthcare professionals and the pharmaceutical industry. These organisations include the NHS, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, European Medicines Agency, the Department of Health & Social Care, the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry and the British Generic Manufacturers Association.
Simon Abrams, CEO
Simon joined Datapharm in 2016 as CEO. He is passionate about the use of digital technology and medical information to improve decision making about medicines for the public, healthcare professionals and the pharmaceutical industry.
Simon is an expert in information and knowledge services for professionals across a diverse range of industry sectors and geographies and has held several senior positions leading digital information companies. He has specialised in the development of digital products and services that enable business communities to operate more effectively in highly regulated markets.
Nat Knight, Director
Nat joined Datapharm in 2017 to focus on our most important stakeholders. His role is to ensure that we offer the best possible service and value to our customers. He loves to develop new products in partnership with our customers to help them improve productivity and compliance. He also works closely with all the regulators and government bodies involved with medical information including the NHS, MHRA, EMA & Department of Health & Social Care whilst also coordinating our relationships with the industry’s trade associations.
Before joining Datapharm, Nat worked in information/data in financial services where he digitised and created highly valuable subscription products. He also ran many conferences and events that focused on the regulation of the markets and the technologies behind them.
Lucy Lamb, Head of Business Services
Lucy joined Datapharm in 2003 to work in the Finance department and has worked her way up the organisation. She now heads our Business Services which incorporates our Finance, HR, IT and Quality teams. With her experience, she is responsible for all financial matters, the success of the company’s people strategy and also ensures best practice is followed across the business. She is passionate about giving Datapharm a vibrant culture that allows creativity, bravery, integrity and collaboration across the company.
Prior to joining Datapharm, Lucy studied Business and Finance at Kingston University.
Arif Govani, Chief Digital Officer
Arif joined Datapharm in 2019 to deliver new and innovative digital healthcare products. He combines experience in technical, user experience and business to deliver commercially successful products and is able to cultivate the right conditions for disruptive ideas to gain traction.
Before joining Datapharm, Arif spent 17 years at Microsoft in various technical and business roles including setting up and running the new Microsoft Health Consumer business in the UK. This led to working inside the NHS for the next 2 years, initially as the Director of Citizen and Patient Digital Engagement and then becoming Director of Product for Moorfields Eye Hospital.
